Hooksiel
In the autumn of 2008 we will install a test and demonstration turbine „nearshore“ in the river Jade in front of Hooksiel near Wilhelmshaven. In the process we will place the first “BARD Tripile” foundation. The foundation structure will essentially be identical to the structures planned for the actual offshore use. The near shore machine with a nominal power of five megawatt will be installed between the Hooksieler outer harbour and the Ineos-Lösch bridge about 400 metres distant from the levee. The water depth there depends on the tide and is between at minimum 2 and at maximum 8 meters.
The anchoring depth of the three piles will be around 44 metres. The world largest pile driver hammer will be employed. Naturally all legally permissible emission values will be strictly observed. Die hub height will be 90 metres above water level, the rotor diameter 122 metres. For the first time the Bard Installation Team, as well as associated service providers will be able to specifically practise in detail the interaction between installing the foundation, the wind energy converter and its components under real conditions seaside for the later use offshore.
The demonstration turbine in Hooksiel will be identical in construction to the 80 turbines, which shall be installed around 100 km northwest of the island Borkum in the already permitted wind farm “BARD Offshore 1” starting in spring 2009. The grid connection will be through a 20 kV line with a connection to the grid of the Wilhelmshavener Gas- und Elektrizitätswerke. An information panel placed in the Hooksiel outer harbour will provide worthwhile information about the turbine and the projects of the BARD Group to everyone interested.
