BARD will be Germany’s Nr. 1 in offshore wind farm development

Seven further projects in the North Sea have been applied for

With four further applications the BARD Group has laid the ground work to become the biggest offshore wind farm operator in the German North Sea. BARD Group has up to now applied for seven further offshore wind farm permissions at the responsible government agency, the Bundesamt für Seeschiffahrt und Hydrographie (BSH) in Hamburg, as the managing director of BARD Engineering GmbH, Heiko Ross, announced on this Wednesday (2nd of July 2008) on the international wind energy conference “WINDFORCE -08 DIRECTION OFFSHORE” in Bremerhaven.

Together with the already permitted project „BARD Offshore 1” a total of eight German offshore wind farms shall be installed and operated by the BARD Group. According to Mr. Ross it is planned to install in each wind farm 80 wind turbine generators. He announced that the total nominal power will exceed 3000 MW which amounts approximately to the power of two conventional large scale power plants. In the wind farm “BARD Offshore 1” about 100 km North West of Borkum the first machines shall be installed in spring of 2009.

For all seven projects in the permitting process the environmental studies have already begun on sea. The names of the wind farms are “Veja Mate”, “Austerngrund”, “Deutsche Bucht”, “Aquamarin”, “Bernstein”, “Citrin” and “Diamant”.

Three further wind farms have been applied for in the Dutch North Sea with the responsible government authorities in the Netherlands. The BARD Group also wants to install and operate these projects, so that the group with its head quarters in Emden has in total 11 wind farm sites at its disposal in the North Sea.
