Certified for the future offshore

BARD companies with certified quality management

On Wednesday (25 June 2008) BARD Building GmbH & Co. KG, BARD Emden Energy GmbH & Co. KG and BARD Service GmbH received their certification in accordance with ISO 9001:2000 (QM) and OHSAS 18001 (AM).

The certificates were handed over to the managing directors by representatives of Germanischer Lloyd at a small ceremony. Germanischer Lloyd AG (GL) is based in Hamburg and is one of the leading certification companies in the world. It has been offering technical services to the maritime sector and industry for 140 years. In close cooperation with subsidiary Germanischer Lloyd Certification (GLC), responsible for the area of system certification, i.e. the certification of management systems in the areas of quality management, environmental management and safety and risk management, the important “GLC Seal of Quality” has been secured. Following the award of the certificate, Wolfgang Modla, Managing Director of BARD Emden Energy GmbH & Co. KG, summed up for his colleagues as follows: “Naturally we are proud of this achievement, but an ISO Certificate is both an obligation and an incentive to continue working on improving our quality. And that is something we shall do.”

The international ISO standard defines requirements for a company’s quality management system, so that it will verifiably lead to continuing improvement of processes, reduce process and error costs, improve employee motivation and, thus, facilitate customer satisfaction.

ISO 9001 is the indispensable basis for a comprehensive quality management system. In the case of the BARD Group companies, the offshore energy converters have to satisfy strict conditions from the German Federal Authority for Navigation and Hydrography. This also applies to the installation, maintenance and repair of the wind turbines. The audit by Germanischer Lloyd Certification (GLC) first tested all processes in the BARD companies, including production and provision of services, on the basis of nationally and internationally recognised standards; it next monitored them over a period of time, and only thereafter issued an unqualified certificate.
