BARD group hires 250th employee

20 girls and boys are able to inform themselves about offshore wind power in Emden on the next “Future Day” in Lower Saxony

In the beginning of March, the number of employees working for the BARD Group reached the 250 mark. Nina Bleckmann, the HR Manager of the BARD Emden Energy GmbH & Co. KG announced the appointment of Andreas Maz, hitherto employed on a temporary basis, as a permanent staff member. The 26 year old from Wittmund works in the rotor blade production of the company in Emden and had been working at BARD since November last year, contracted through the FVT Employment Agency as laminator. This way, he had been hoping to take a leap into the so-called “primary employment market”. “I am so pleased about being employed permanently”, said the father of two children who was handed a bouquet of colourful flowers by Ms Bleckmann. Manfred Smidt, BARD’s Production Manger for the manufacture of blanks, confirms the new employee to be a hard, reliable worker: “Andreas Maz has utilised his chance and I am happy about every new employee for the upcoming serial production”.

The BARD Emden Energy GmbH & Co. KG is going to offer commercial as well as commercial-engineering apprenticeships, for the fist time this summer. “At least ten young people will get the chance of a funded apprenticeship for a future-oriented job”, announced Nina Bleckmann. She particularly encouraged young women to apply for a technical job. The BARD Group will participate in the “Future Day” again this year and offer 20 girls and boys the opportunity of some in-depth information about technical jobs in the offshore wind sector. The “Girls Day – “future day” for girls and boys” will be held on the 24th of April.

BARD offers a wide range of recognised professions. Next to mechatronics technicians, industrial mechanics, electronic technicians for industrial engineering, process engineers for the plastics and rubber industry will also be trained. Apprenticeships as industrial business management assistants and IT consultants, as well as professional warehouse clerks are starting too. Entry requirement is a certificate of secondary education I or II (good) and/or one completed year of vocational foundation training or technical college. Ms Beckmann thinks that offshore wind power is a sector with particular growth potential and very good job perspectives: “Permanent employment after successfully completing the training is a definite possibility if the performance has been adequate.

The serial production of the offshore wind power plant commences after installing the two “BARD VM” prototypes on the Rysumer Nacken near Emden. “Which is why we are recruiting continuously”, says Frau Bleckmann. She anticipates the number of staff to rise to about 400 within the BARD Group by the end of the year.
